John supports the Defense industry with over 30 years of experience in the Department of Defense operational, acquisition and program management portfolios. He has 8 years of business development experience with clients operating in the Defense industry. John's expertise includes strategy development and implementation, acquisition processes from R&D, procurement, and sustainment, capture management as well as a deep understanding of market prioritization and trends. He specializes in the Department of the Navy and NAVSEA with credibility and direct experience Defense wide. He is a Subject Matter Expert on all aspects of the Business Development process and routinely leads and serves on various Capture Teams supporting Cypress Clients.
Before joining Cypress International, John served as a Submariner and Acquisition Professional. As a Major Program Manager for the Navy's Special Operations Forces (SOF) Undersea Mobility Program, he provided financial oversight of Navy investment and operations accounts totaling $45 million / year including all aspects of contract oversight, modification, and award. He has supported the development, submission, articulation, and execution of twelve integrated Navy budget submissions.
John has operational insight and experience as a warfighter in all aspects of Naval warfare, fleet integrated operations, and sustainment - including assignments as part of a Carrier Strike Group staff and aboard six submarines. His experience includes at-sea command of a strategic deterrent platform (USS Maryland – SSBN-738). John is a leader within the submarine defense community, including leadership roles with the Navy Submarine league and Submarine Technical Symposium.
